Environmental Commitment

Environmental quality is a central component of the long-term sustainability of our economy, our national prosperity and our quality of life.  Gibbes Burton, LLC is committed to reducing our impact on the natural world.  We constantly strive to improve environmental efficiency, decrease consumption of natural resources, and minimize waste in our office and in our daily lives.  We believe that these efforts improve the health of our business and advance our goal of environmental sensitivity.

Reducing Waste

We have implemented a number of policies to help reduce the waste generated by our practice.  Recycling bins are easily accessible within our office.  Office products such as folders and paper clips that could easily be thrown away are reused when possible.  Aluminum cans, cardboard boxes, and any No. 1 & 2 plastics are recycled as well.  Electronic correspondence is used in order to save paper.  All of these seem inconsequential but add up to have a big impact in reducing the amount of waste produced by Gibbes Burton, LLC.

Environmental Leadership

EPA ENERGY STAR Partner:
We believe businesses benefit by continually improving their management of energy resources, and the environment benefits from reduced levels of related pollution.  To reduce our firm’s impact on the environment, we have teamed with the EPA’s ENERGY STAR program.  Our partnership will help combat global climate change and promote energy security by reducing energy use.  We are proud to be part of the family of businesses who have also joined with ENERGY STAR.

ABA-EPA Law Office Climate Challenge

ABA-EPA ENERGY STAR Program:
Gibbes Burton, LLC is proud to take part in the American Bar Association-Environmental Protection Agency Law Office Climate Challenge’s ENERGY STAR program.  This program challenges law offices to reduce their energy use by 10%.  We make efforts to utilize natural light, turn off light fixtures and idle computers, and maximize the efficiency of our office appliances to achieve this goal.

ABA-EPA WasteWise Program:
We also participate in the American Bar Association-Environmental Protection Agency WasteWise program.  Law offices use large quantities of paper, and paper use leaves a large ecological footprint.  We purchase all paper products -from copy paper to paper towels- with recycled content, recycle mixed-use office paper, and use double-sided printing and copying in an effort to reduce the footprint we leave behind.
